Feline Preventative Care Protocol:
6-11 weeks of age : Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis/Calicivirus/Panleukopenia/Chlamydia Psittaci (Fel-O-Vax IV + CaliciVax)
Deworm, repeat in 2 weeks.
Flea/tick preventative and heartworm preventative
Feline Immunodeficiency Virus and Feline Leukemia Virus test
12 weeks of age: Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis/Calicivirus/Panleukopenia/Chlamydia Psittaci
First Feline Leukemia Virus Vaccine (Fel-O-Vax IV + CaliciVax or Fel-O-Vax IV LVK + CaliciVax)
16 weeks of age: Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis/Calicivirus/Panleukopenia/Chlamydia
Second Feline Leukemia Virus Vaccine (Fel-O-Vax IV + CaliciVax or Fel-O-Vax IV LVK + CaliciVax)
1 year Rabies (Imrab 3)
Vaccines MUST be finished at 16 weeks NO earlier!
Schedule spay or neuter
1 year visit: 1 year Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis/Calicivirus/Panleukopenia/Chlamydia Psittaci
Continue Feline Leukemia vaccine if indicated for that patient (Fel-O-Vax IV + CaliciVax or Fel-O-Vax IV LVK + CaliciVax)
3 year Rabies (Imrab 3)
2 year visit: Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis/Calicivirus/Panleukopenia/Chlamydia Psittaci
Continue Feline Leukemia vaccine if indicated for that patient (Fel-O-Vax IV + CaliciVax or Fel-O-Vax IV LVK + CaliciVax)
(1 year vaccine for outdoor cats and 3 year vaccine for indoor cats at the doctor’s discretion.)
Other Considerations:
-If a kitten misses a booster vaccination by over six weeks – they must start the series over.
- A vaccination that is “made up” in the refrigerator only lasts one hour.
- Sick or pregnant pets do not get vaccinated.
There are exceptions to this vaccination protocol at the doctor’s discretion.
